Animal Magic: Interview with Brat and Suzie

brat and suzie

We love animals, on jumpers, sweatshirts and Tees, this trend is here to stay for a while. There are many pretenders to the Crown of the textile printed animal kingdom, but the originals are Brat and Suzie, sister designers: Charlotte and Polly Vickery who both escaped the safety of the world of fashion production and working for big high street brands to follow their own creative dream and bring smiles to our faces with their animal print T-shirts and sweatshirts. It isn’t all about tailoring through; relaxed pyjama-style trousers and a full-length icy jumpsuit provided the perfect contrast to the sharp silhouettes. Andree Latibeaudiére talked to the designer to find out more about his new collection:

Even in recession knitwear holds strong, it’s the love that dares not speak its name and for me knitwear has been a big fashion pre-occupation and finding elegant knits, unusual knits, inspiring knitwear that is “just right” has certainly driven me to knitting my own and it appears I am in good company. Madeleine Thompson’s company was born out of frustration, possibly even irritation as she couldn’t buy the “right” beanie hat, not the right softness or slouchiness. “The collection started because I couldn't find knitwear that I wanted so yes - it was for myself!”
