Top Drawer and Craft Open 12th January
To meet the ever growing demand for products with a proven provenance or design that is hand made as opposed to the replicated mass produced products found in the high streets there are more festivals and exhibitions on offer. One of the largest is Top Drawer which opens on 12th for three days at the Earls Court Exhibition Centre with a sister exhibition called Craft for hand crafted products. You’d expect home wares at such a show but accessories and fashion are beginning to make their presence felt.
Mulberry LCM Party
The Mulberry party was a perfect definition of English Luxury with gorgeous English sparkling wine by Nyetimber, Gordon’s Gin cocktails and the crème de la crème of London’s Fashion Community from La Petite Anglaise, model Arizona Muse (featured picture) to Suzy Menkes the Godmother of Fashion Writing, it was a relaxed affair more akin to a family gathering, that's if your family has to be one of the most glamorous family in England.

The hottest ticket in town is Freeze Festival which opens tomorrow. It is the biggest indoor après ski party to hit London, with an estimated 30,000 people expected to “hit the slopes”, there’s plenty of skiing action for snow fans and with venues like Ibiza Rocks the Snow, there’s going to be some serious dance action with acts like Todla T, Knytro and Route 94. DJ Fresh will be hitting the decks and for those who like a slow pace there will be Alpine bars and plenty of shopping to be done. This winter wonderland opens Wednesday 27th until Sunday December 1st. Saturday is going to be the big party night so get your kit on and head to Freeze
Kansai Yamamoto - Fashion in Motion at the V&A
Before Yoji and before Commes des Garcons Kansai Yamamoto exploded onto the British Fashion scene with a collection born his love of Kabuki theatre and design traditions and his love of Namban art from the Azuchi-Momyama period with its rich colours, golds and complex renditions of Samurais, Geisha and animals Kansai brought a psychedelic coloured punk attitude or Basara to his tradition before Punk had exploded on the music scene. So incredible was his first show in 1971 that the V&A immediately bought two pieces for their collection Last Friday I had the pleasure and privilege to see the Kansai Yamamoto Fashion in Motion show at the V&A on Friday 1st November 2013 as part of their Fashion in Motion Series.
