Christmas Jumper Day - Save the Children!
Unless you’ve been stuck under a rock you’ll know that today is Christmas Jumper Day, a day to celebrate those naff jumpers that our Nan’s have kindly knitted for us but made us cringe into oblivion is now “THE MUST HAVE” fashion item…well until December 26th. But this anti-fashion item is also powering some serious fund raising for Save the Children fund and if you were watching the news this morning about the state of refugee camps in Syria you’ll be wondering how you can help. Well you can make the world better with a sweater and donating just one pound to Save the Children is a simple way to do it. The staff from Richmond Hill Bakery and artist Jo Holland are our Fashion Foxes of the week showing us how to rock the Christmas sweater with style and laughter. Text WOOLLY to 70050 to donate one pound via your mobile phone. Or click on our banner to be transported to Save the Children’s website to donate.
Autumn looks for golden days
When the autumn sun shines it burns away the winter chill and the rich colours glow. This is the second part of styling Gabrielle Russell, who is a film director and now a lecturer at Norwich School of art. In a gap between her busy work schedule I styled her with a day look for an art and film lecturer. “Work wear” is something that is usually buttoned down and suit-shaped. For creative people striking a balance between expressing your personality with a hint of professionalism is key. The shoot started with grey threatening skies but then the sun came out.
Winter Flower Power
Gabrielle Russell is an up coming film director. She has recently premiered her film “Falling” about a woman who leaves the secure life of a professional married woman to be with the man she has fallen in love with. She’s a woman who knows how to achieve great things on a low budget. With future red carpet events and a friend’s wedding on the horizon we explore affordable winter glamour thanks to F&F clothing styled from their West Kensington Flagship Store that opened a few weeks ago.
Winter Layers with Artist Jo Holland
Winter is beginning to bite, so now is the time to start layering up. Winter offers a chance to play with layers and textures. A key look this fall is about mixing different fabrics and a key look is mixing leather and wool most often mixing leather and wool within one garment with leather as a trim. Jo Holland, artist and textile designer who is currently collaborating with Canadian fashion designer Cristina Sabaiduc models some ideas for this mid-season cold snap. Unique Talent: Dominique Young Unique
Casually dressed in a peach t-shirt, skinny jeans and loafers, slight of build and softly spoken Dominique Young Unique doesn’t strike you as a girl who has rapped her way out of the projects of Tampa Bay, but this is a girl who battled on the streets and basket ball courts to become not only a music star but is set to make her mark as a fashion icon. Her track “Earthquake” in collaboration with DJ Fresh features on the soundtrack of the much anticipated Kick Ass 2 movie, is released today, in the meantime she is in studios working on her new album and working with a design house to become their “face of”, but is keeping the identity under wraps something tells the Fox that this news is going to be big. Dominique took time out from recording her new album to talk to Fashion Fox about her music, her life and her love of River Island and Prada.
